Qualified applicants for this position must be 19 years of age or older, have a high school diploma or G.E.D., a valid Virginia driver's license and an excellent driving record. Applicants must also possess the ability to communicate effectively in English and be capable of sitting for three hours at a time. Applicants must also have the ability to obtain a Virginia Commercial Driver’s License. A pre-employment drug screening is required for this position and the CDL drug testing guidelines will be followed during the employment period. A satisfactory post offer pre-employment criminal background investigation will be required of the selected applicant.
The hourly rate is $13.08. The hours of work will vary and require a combination of days, nights, weekends, and holidays. This position will work a required minimum of 9 hours per week with a possible maximum of 30 hours per week during the Spring and Fall semesters. This position will then serve as a flex operator during the Summer and break schedules. This position will not exceed 1,500 hours during any consecutive 12 month period.
Applicants must be able to commit to the required orientation schedule and training program. Orientation will include one week of classroom instruction, and will be conducted Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM. The training program will last approximately six weeks and include CDL testing and on the road training.
