The Blacksburg Building Safety Division reviews construction plans for conformance with codes, and issues permits. In the review of construction plans, projects are evaluated for compliance with building codes and town ordinances, and then inspectors conduct all final inspections and issue certificates of occupancy.

Building Safety staff respond to citizen complaints and concerns, serve as liaisons with local builders, and offer training on building code issues. Further, staff manages and coordinates town building projects, negotiates change orders as necessary, processes payments, and maintains construction budgets and schedules.

For an information packet on the building permit process for Single Family and Commercial projects or for additional building safety information, contact the Building Safety Division at 540-443-1325.
