Example Storm Drain Art – Richmond, VAThe Town of Blacksburg is launching a new public arts program centered around local water heritage and water quality.  Modeled after a successful program in Richmond, Blacksburg is seeking design concepts from local artists to adorn selected storm drains around town – with a mission to raise awareness about the choices (and changes) we can all make to restore the health of our local waterways.

Artists ages 18+ are invited to submit storm drain designs by Friday, January 19, 2018 in keeping with the following themes:

  • The Town of Blacksburg’s Freshwater Heritage
  • The Protection of Stroubles Creek
  • New River Watershed’s Natural Beauty: local wildlife, healthy habitat & natural beauty

Selected artists will receive a $350 per location stipend for installing their work.
