The Town of Blacksburg is preparing an application for federal funding through the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) administered Transportation Alternatives program to enhance the pedestrian environment through safety and accessibility improvements along the Main Street sidewalk between Roanoke Street and Washington Street. Please join us at a public input meeting to discuss the proposed application on Thursday, Oct. 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the Blacksburg Motor Company at 400 S. Main St.,

The application is part of a competitive process for federal funding that would become available in fiscal years 2018 and 2019 (October 2018 - September 2020). The decision process for the applications is typically completed by July 2018. The town’s application will request funding for design and construction of pedestrian enhancements including accessibility improvements, pedestrian scale lighting, and improved streetscape elements.
