Blacksburg, VA
Home MenuZoning
The Town of Blacksburg is divided into different zones that each have their own land use designation. Some areas are strictly for residential use, some are strictly for commercial use but most allow a little bit of both. To learn about a specific zoning designation, please check out the town code for more information.
Zoning Permits
Please be advised that zoning permits are required for permanent and temporary signage; temporary storage containers (such as PODS); accessory structures (such as sheds and detached garages); hardscaping (such as new driveways or expansions and patios); architectural and vegetative screening for mechanical equipment (such as heating and air conditioning); and screening for dumpsters. Small-scale alcohol production facilities also require a zoning permit. To apply for any of these zoning permits, use our online application portal OpenGov. Please allow time for approval before you make arrangements for installation or delivery.
