Blacksburg and the New River Valley are serviced by three local airports; two are private and the other is commercial. For international service, Richmond International and Charlotte Douglas are just a couple of hours drive.

Roanoke–Blacksburg Regional Airport is the closest commercial airport with connections to major cities such as Charlotte, Orlando, New York and Chicago. Travel to Roanoke is made even simpler with The Smart Way, a bus service connecting the New River Valley to Roanoke for a day of shopping or a trip out of town. Smart Way stops are conveniently located throughout the Blacksburg and Roanoke areas including the Roanoke Regional Airport.

Local Airports

Virginia Tech Montgomery Executive Airport – Located beside Virginia Tech’s Corporate Research Center and just a couple of minutes from Virginia Tech’s campus, the airport’s location and size is ideal for corporate travel, fueling up or flying in for a Virginia Tech sporting event.

New River Valley Airport – Located in Dublin, (Pulaski County), this local airport also doubles as a port for U.S. Customs.
