RZN17-0006 Request to rezone 22.96 acres from the R-4 and R-5 (Low Density Residential and Transitional Residential) zoning districts to the PR and DC (Planned Residential and Downtown Commercial) zoning districts including the Old Blacksburg Middle School property at 501 S. Main St. and adjacent parcel on Clay Street (Tax Parcels 257-A-94A, 257-A-94, 257-A-217, 257-A-218, 257-A188 and 257-25 C.)
The Town of Blacksburg has received a request to rezone the Old Blacksburg Middle School property and an adjacent property at 402 Clay St. The request is to rezone the back 14 acres + to the PR (Planned Residential) zoning district and the front 8.9 acres + to the DC (Downtown Commercial) zoning district. The applicant, Midtown Redevelopment Partners, LLC, is proposing a commercial, office, retail, multi-family, townhome and civic/park/recreation use project.
If you are interested in learning more please plan to attend the upcoming neighborhood meeting. This is an opportunity for the applicant to talk about the proposal, answer questions, and involve the public early in the process.

Other meetings will be scheduled in December and January before the Planning Commission public hearing is held. The Planning Commission public hearing is not anticipated to occur until February 2018. Town Council public hearings will be scheduled after the Planning Commission takes action on the rezoning.
