Downtown Trick or Treat

Come and join the fun in Downtown Blacksburg for Halloween this year!

4-6 p.m.: Downtown Trick or Treat - Halloween games and treats from Blacksburg Parks & Recreation Department on College Avenue, Halloween treats with Blacksburg Police Department on College Avenue, Haunted House at The Creekmore Law Firm

5:30 p.m.: Come on into the Lyric Theatre for the Halloween Costume Contest. Hosted by Fireman Wayne Garst with special guest star Judge "Moose!”

This year the contest will have a special category for group costumes so get creative! PLEASE NOTE: The Costume Contest is open to HUMANS only. (Only Service Animals will be permitted in the Lyric and to participate as part of a group costume.)

The merchants of downtown Blacksburg, and the Blacksburg Police Department are ready to welcome you for a safe and happy Halloween in the downtown area!

Once again this year the Blacksburg Police Department promote Be Safe Blacksburg  (a K-12 initiative) and No Hokie Left Behind (college age initiative).

College Avenue will be closed Tuesday, Oct. 31 from noon – 8 p.m.

The Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets are working with the police to provide additional safety during the Trick or Treat session. Extra police officers will also be located downtown to assist in traffic calming and safe crossing.

Bright yellow caution tape will be attached to the lampposts along the west side of Main Street between College Avenue and Roanoke Street to prevent people stepping off the sidewalk into traffic. The cadets will assist with crossing Main Street at the Lee Street and Jackson Street pedestrian crossings. Police officers will assist with crossing Main Street at the Roanoke Street and College Avenue intersections.
