The Town of Blacksburg has initiated a Zoning Ordinance Amendment to amend Zoning Ordinance Section 1153 to simplify and improve the process of posting notices for land use public hearings such as rezonings, conditional use permits and variances. The proposed amendment will change how the number of signs to be posted is determined; remove the option to have staff post the property for the applicant; and give the Planning Commission the ability to defer a hearing date if determined that failure to comply with this section has deprived the public of reasonable notice of the public hearing. Staff is also proposing to change the look of public notice signs to increase visibility.
A Public Input meeting for the amendment will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at 6:30 PM in the Roger E. Hedgepeth Chambers at 300 South Main Street.
Due to COVID-19 health concerns, seating in the Council Chambers will be limited. Citizens are encouraged, but not required, to submit comments by e-mail and view the meeting online or on local television WTOB Channel 2. The meeting will be live-streamed here.
