Zoning Ordinance Amendment #60/Ordinance #2001 Zoning Ordinance Amendment to amend the text of the Town’s Zoning Ordinance to create a new Downtown Northwest zoning district for the area bounded by North Main St., Turner St., and Prices Fork Rd.
There will be a public information and input meeting regarding the Downtown Northwest zoning district on Wednesday, October 12 at 6pm at Town Council Chambers (Roger E. Hedgepeth Chambers) in the Blacksburg Municipal Building, 2nd floor, 300 South Main Street.
In 2019, the Town adopted the Downtown Strategic Plan (link below) which is a strategic vision to guide the evolution of Blacksburg’s Downtown into the years ahead. The Plan identified six sub districts for Downtown including Downtown Northwest, which includes the area bounded by North Main St., Prices Fork Rd, and Turner St. The proposed amendment to the Town’s Zoning Ordinance will create a new zoning district for Downtown Northwest area and implement the Strategic Plan. Creation of the new district does not change existing zoning. Property owners would still have to rezone to the new district through a public hearing process.
The purpose of the public information and input meeting is for Town staff to provide an overview of Zoning Ordinance Amendment #60/Ordinance 2001, receive input from the community as well as go over the public hearing schedule and other opportunities for public input.
