The Housing and Community Connections Office is involved in multiple programs and initiatives designed to improve the quality of life of our residents and expand access to safe, affordable and accessible housing.

Affordable Housing: The office supports the creation and maintenance of affordable housing by providing technical support, through partnership, and as a lender of HOME and CDBG funds. Learn more.

 

Aging in Community: The office supports efforts to age in place and community. Most recently, it worked with the NRV Aging in Community Leadership Team to create an Aging in Place Workbook. This workbook is design to help residents develop an individual plan to age in place. Learn more.

Housing Resiliency Grants: The office, using the Town’s allocation of CDBG funds, administers a Housing Resiliency Grant program that provides eligible applicants with assistance to improve home energy efficiency, accessibility, and safety. Learn more.

Town Gown Program: The office co-chairs a monthly forum to strengthen ties, build understanding, and discuss issues of mutual interest between town residents and the university community. Learn more.

Accessory Apartments: The office is working with planning and building staff to revise the Town’s accessory apartment ordinance to provide more opportunities for affordable housing to our workforce. Learn more.

Affordable Housing Fund: The office is exploring the idea of developing a dedicated local source of public funding to support the preservation and production of affordable housing. Learn more.

Community Land Trust: The office is working with Montgomery County to explore the development of a Community Land Trust to provide more affordable homeownership opportunities. Learn more.
