Blacksburg Parks and Recreation offers a variety of sporting opportunities for both youth and adults. Just some of the programs offered are:

The Blacksburg Parks and Recreation Department's inclement weather Hotline is 540-558-0742. Cancellations can be found on the recreation department’s Facebook page but will not be posted after 5 p.m.
Adult Softball
The Blacksburg Parks and Recreation Department offers Adult Softball leagues.
NOTE: Spring/Summer registrations are February through Mid March; Fall registrations are July

Ages: Must be 17 years or older (or 14 years or older if in church league) to participate.
Ball Requirements: Core 44, cork center or Core 47, cork center. Must be all cork center.
Bat Restrictions: No Miken Ultra II or Fast Pitch bats allowed.
Men's Adult Softball Leagues
Registration: Administrative Office, 615 Patrick Henry Dr. No mail or phone registrations will be accepted. A signed roster complete with names, addresses and phone numbers along with the entire entry fee are due at the time of registration. No awards will be given at end of season. For more information, please call (540) 961-1179. League Eligibility: 50% of roster must be Town of Blacksburg residents. Allowed to play in one Men’s league only.
League Eligibility: Allowed to play for only one league team.
Offered: Fall and Spring
Co-Ed Adult Softball Leagues
Registration: Administrative Office, 615 Patrick Henry Dr. No mail or phone registrations will be accepted. A signed roster complete with names, addresses and phone numbers along with the entire entry fee are due at the time of registration. Adult Volleyball
The Blacksburg Department of Parks and Recreation offers Adult Volleyball leagues for Co-Ed.
Registration: Registration at the Community Center, 725 Patrick Henry Dr., Blacksburg. No mail or phone registrations will be accepted. A signed roster complete with names, addresses and phone numbers along with the entire entry fee are due at the time of registration.
Ages: Player must be 17 years of age as of the first day of registration. Proof of age may be asked for at anytime during the season.
League Eligibility: No VHSL players are eligible.
Days: Co-Ed plays on Wednesdays
Youth Basketball
Blacksburg Parks and Recreation offer youth basketball for the winter months. The youth basketball leagues play December through March.

Pee-Wee Basketball (Girls & Boys) - 6-8 years
Girls Minors Sandlot Basketball 9-10 years old
Girls Major Sandlot Basketball - 11-12 years
Girls Senior Sandlot Basketball - 13-14 years
Boys Minor Sandlot Basketball - 9-10 years
Boys Major Sandlot Basketball - 11-12 years
Boys Senior Sandlot Basketball - 13-14 years
Teen Basketball - Grades 9-12th
Youth Football
The Blacksburg Parks and Recreation Department offers youth football for 6-13 year old children.
Flag Football
Ages: 6-10 years old as of November 1
This program is designed to provide the basic fundamentals of football at minimal contact for participants. Players will learn the basic rules of the game with major focus on sportsmanship and teamwork.
Youth Football
Ages: 9-13 year olds as of November 1. No 14 year olds or 8th graders.
This program will provide a recreational experience in football for the participants in grades 4-7 The objectives are to furnish basic instruction in the rules of the game and techniques of play to stress sportsmanship throughout the season, and to provide a recreational activity for the participants.
Youth Volleyball
The Youth Volleyball program runs in the spring and fall and is open to all youths ages 10-14 years.
Become a Coach
Blacksburg Parks and Recreation is looking for dedicated, patient and caring coaches. We need volunteers to coach youth programs throughout the year including our baseball, softball, T-ball, basketball and football divisions. Each coach must be at least 18 years old and pass a background check.
