 Corridor Overview

Prices Fork Road Safety and Mobility Study 

The Town of Blacksburg has hired consulting firm, VHB, to study the Prices Fork Road corridor between Main Street and the town limits. The focus of the study is to provide recommendations to facilitate safe and convenient pedestrian and bicycle access along and across the roadway corridor while accommodating the critical east-west vehicular and transit traffic flow that occurs along this roadway.

This report is an update to the 2001 Economic Development Strategic Plan which focused on ten thematic high priority recommendations. Nearly all of these recommendations have been addressed or accomplished since the plan was completed. The results can be found in the 2013 progress report.

North Main Street: A Strategy for Redevelopment

Development Strategies was tasked by the Town of Blacksburg to evaluate the North Main corridor from the edge of downtown to the commercial area at Giles Road.  This plan summarizes the challenges and opportunities involved in the redevelopment of North Main Street and identifies a path forward that will enable a vibrant mixed-use pedestrian-and bicycle-friendly corridor.
