Description: The applicant requests a Special Exception to the zoning ordinance to allow one miniature pig and two Nigerian dwarf goats on a lot less than two acres in the RR-1 Rural Residential zoning district at 301 Royal Lane.

Neighborhood Meeting
Wednesday, August 7, 2024, 5:30 pm in the Blacksburg Motor Company Conference Room, 400 South Main St.
This is an informal meeting that will give the applicant the opportunity to present the plan and provide attendees with the opportunity to ask questions.  A staff member from the Planning department will forward the notes from the meeting to the Planning Commission and Town Council.
Planning Commission Work Session
Tuesday, August 20, 2024, 5:00 pm in the Blacksburg Motor Company Conference Room, 400 South Main St.
The Planning Commission will review the request and the staff report.  There will be an opportunity for the applicant to present the proposal.  The public is welcome to attend, however, this is not a public hearing and there will not be an opportunity for public comment.

Tuesday, September 3, 2024, 6:30 pm in the Roger E. Hedgepeth Chambers, 2nd Floor Municipal Building, 300 South Main St.

(Recommended Approval with a vote of 3-2 and 2 abstentions)

 

The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on the request and make a recommendation to Town Council.  There will be an opportunity for the applicant and the public to comment.
Town Council Work Session
 Tuesday, September 17, 2024, 11:00 am in the Blacksburg Motor Company Conference Room, 400 South Main St.
The Town Council will review the request, the staff report, and Planning Commission's recommendation.  There will be an opportunity for the applicant to present the proposal.  The public is welcome to attend, however, this is not a public hearing and there will not be an opportunity for public comment.

(Approved with a vote of 6-0)
